New Honourary Consul-General of Japan Appointed in Regina

On November 15th, 2011, the Government of Japan announced the appointment of Mr. Victor Sawa as new Honourary Consul-General of Japan in Regina, effective immediately. Mr. Sawa has been the Music Director of the Regina Symphony Orchestra since 1997 and is a third-generation Japanese Canadian.
Mr. Sawa replaces the outgoing Honourary Consul-General Arthur Wakabayashi, who also served in the past as the former Provincial Deputy Minister of Finance and Chancellor of the University of Regina. Mr. Wakabayashi provided impeccable service for four consecutive terms totalling twenty years, before ending his term as of November 14th, 2011.
The Government of Japan sincerely appreciates the decades of contribution by Mr. Wakabayashi and hopes that Mr. Sawa will continue to further advance relations between Japan and Saskatchewan.
