On June 19th Consul General Fukuda made a courtesy call on Alberta Premier Redford. During their discourse Consul General Fukuda expressed anew his feeling of appreciation toward the Alberta Government and the people of Alberta for their warm support in response to the Great East Japan Earthquake in March of last year, while also explaining the current situation of reconstruction and the Japanese Government’s policy of “Open Process for Reconstruction”.
In addition, Consul General Fukuda touched on the Alberta/Japan Sister City relationship and the fact that as Japan receives support from the provincial government, each year the Alberta/Japan Twinned Municipalities Association Annual General Meeting is held here; furthermore, he spoke of the grass roots level people-to-people exchange through efforts like the JET Programme as well as the Japanese Gardens here in the province of Alberta, giving mention of the fact that this year Nikka Yuko Gardens looks toward its 45th year anniversary.
The courtesy call amounted to meaningful discourse as the good relations between Japan and the province of Alberta were once again affirmed, with a view to the future of the energy sector and the importance of the deepening of exchange on several levels.
