Donations Period for Great East Japan Earthquake Relief Extended

 

5 years have passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami, and we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the many warm messages and various forms of support we have received.

In response to the many individuals and groups wishing to make donations the consulate began accepting donations for the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 16, 2011. We would like to report that the Consulate General of Japan at Calgary has received $314,342.87 in donations to date, which was periodically transferred to the Japanese Red Cross society. We would once again like to express our deepest appreciation for your generous support during this difficult time for Japan.

Due to the Japanese Government’s extending the acceptance period for contributions, this consulate will be accepting donations until March 31, 2017. Donations may be made by any of the following ways:

1. By depositing directly into our TD Canada Trust Account

2. By sending a personal cheque to the Consulate General of Japan at Calgary

3. By bringing money (cash or cheque) to the Consulate-General of Japan at Calgary
The Consulate is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 17:00. Donations can either be made in Canadian or US dollars.
Additional information: The Consulate General of Japan in Calgary is unable to issue a tax receipt for donations. However, upon request, it is able to issue an official letter stating the amount and date of the donation. Please contact us by email or phone. For those visiting the consulate in person, please inquire at the reception window.
