Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction—Lesson from Kumamoto Earthquake 2016 Lecture at the University of Calgary

On March 14th, 2018, the University of Calgary hosted a disaster preparedness seminar entitled “Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction—Lesson from Kumamoto Earthquake 2016”. At the seminar Kumamoto University’s Associate Professor Yukiko Takeuchi of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Architecture, explained the situation surrounding the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake as well as the lessons learned from that disaster. Following the lecture, panelist experts and the audience engaged in an enthusiastic panel discussion on disaster preparedness and a question and answer period.
