2020/5/11
On Saturday, May 9th, our office, in joint cooperation with the Alberta Japanese Business Association (AJBA), the Japan Foundation, the Edmonton Japanese Community Association, and the Alberta Japanese Teacher’s Association, held the 2020 Alberta Provincial High School Japanese Speech Contest online.
At the beginning of the contest Consul General Kobayashi provided opening remarks in which he encouraged high school students studying Japanese to continue learning the language despite the situation surrounding the novel coronavirus. Afterward, 16 high school students learning Japanese from across Alberta proudly demonstrated the achievements of their daily Japanese study via the online contest, exploring various themes including, “My Japanese Experience” and “My Favourite Idol”. At the end of the day the president of the AJBA, Mr. Kawaishi, provided overall comments and announced the rankings.
