On August 13, the Calgary Japanese Community Association (CJCA)-sponsored event, 2022 Omatsuri, was held in-person for the first time in 3 years. Consul-General Uchida delivered opening remarks and participated in the kagami-biraki ceremony. Many people came to experience Japanese culture at the event, which included Japanese food, drinks, and items for sale. There were also games for children, an omikoshi portable shrine, yosakoi dancing, and Japanese martial arts demonstrations. In addition, many visitors came by the Japanese Consulate booth, which featured pamphlets introducing various localities around Japan. Also present at the booth was water calligraphy and winning photographs from past years of the Japan Photo Contest.
