Congratulatory Reception for Japanese Women’s Curling Team “Loco Solare”

Consul-General Watabe held a reception on November 28 at his official residence to celebrate the members of the Japanese women’s curling team “Loco Solare”, who won first place at the inaugural Pan Continental Curling Championships (PCCC 2022)1 in Calgary. The reception was attended by the athletes themselves, as well as those who have supported them.
During the reception, the Consul-General commended the athletes for their victory at the PCCC 2022, as well as discussed Loco Solare’s hometown of Tokoro-cho in Kitami, Hokkaido as the Home of Curling in Japan, taking the opportunity to discuss the ongoing sister city relations between Alberta and Hokkaido, Japan. The Consul-General also expressed his gratitude to Loco Solare for being a symbol of goodwill between both countries, as well as sent them off with encouragement for their future competitions.
The members of Loco Solare expressed joy at winning the inaugural Pan Continental Curling Championships, and mentioned how they feel that Calgary has become a second home. Finally, the athletes expressed gratitude to all of their fans for their support.

Teams from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, New Zealand and the United States competed.
