On May 17th, Deputy Consul-General Matsuo attended the 4th Canadian National Junior Kendo Championships held at Bishop O’Byrne High School in Calgary, where he delivered remarks on behalf of the Consulate General of Japan in Calgary and encouraged the young, passionate athletes who had gathered in Calgary.
The 4th Canadian National Junior Kendo Championships was hosted by the Canadian Kendo Federation and brought together participants under the age of 18 from across Canada.
Also on May 30th, Consul-General Wajima hosted a gathering at the official residence with members of Chinook Kendo Dojo, who played a key role in organizing the 4th Canadian National Junior Kendo Championships. During the gathering, Consul-General Wajima spoke about a master of Kendo and former All Japan Kendo Champion, Naoki Eiga, who is from Hokkaido, Japan and is currently serving as a police officer in Hokkaido. The Consul-General also expressed his desire to support sports exchanges with Canada as the Consul General and had a meaningful discussion with Chinook Kendo Dojo.
