2025 JET Programme Welcome-Back Reception

On December 5th, Consul-General Wajima hosted a Welcome Back Reception at his official residence to celebrate and welcome back recently returned JET Programme participants.
Many guests, including JET Alumni executives and representatives from Japan-related businesses and cultural organizations, attended to honor the returnees and express appreciation for their dedication and hard work during their time in Japan.
Speeches were delivered by Consul-General Wajima and a representative of the recently returned JETs, and Honorary Consul General Dr. Olenka Bilash offered a toast.
A consulate staff member who is a former JET participant gave a presentation on how to leverage the skills and experiences gained through the JET Programme in job applications and future careers. Following the presentation, the President of the Japanese Culture Collective at the University of Calgary and the JETAASA Chair spoke about ways to remain involved with Japan and stay connected to the community.
Guests enjoyed a delicious buffet lunch prepared by Mr. Keisuke Oyama, the Consulate’s official chef, along with lively conversation throughout the afternoon. We hope this gathering inspires all returnees to stay engaged with Japan and continues strengthening ties within our community.
