New Year’s Reception and Presentation of Consul-General's Commendation

On January 16, Consul-General Wajima hosted a New Year’s Reception and Presentation of Consul-General’s Commendation at his official residence.

In his opening remarks, Consul-General Wajima reflected on events such as last year's G7 Kananaskis Summit, emphasized the importance of the Japan-Canada partnership, and expressed his desire to further strengthen bilateral relations based on mutual trust and cooperation.

This was followed by remarks from Mr. Toyokawa, President of the Alberta Japan Business Association (AJBA) and Ms. Matsumoto, President of the Calgary Japanese Community Association (CJCA), who delivered greetings on behalf of their respective organizations. The reception also provided an opportunity for meaningful interaction between members of the Japanese community and Japan business professionals in Canada.

Consul-General Wajima also offered his wishes for a prosperous 2026, followed by the sake barrel breaking ceremony in collaboration with Sake Gami Corp.

Subsequently, the Consul -General presented the Consul-General’s Commendation to four former presidents of the Calgary Japanese Community Association, commending their longstanding contributions to the development of the Japanese community and the promotion of Japanese culture in Calgary.
