On April 8th, the Consulate-General of Japan in Calgary had the pleasure of hosting a special bento event in appreciation of the Calgary Police Service and their continued dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community, including several thousand Japanese nationals who live in or visit Calgary.
As a part of Government of Japan’s efforts to promote Japanese food culture, a presentation highlighted the uniqueness of Japan’s bento lunch culture, access to Japanese ingredients in Calgary, and recommendations to Japanese restaurants for further exploration. Each bento was carefully crafted by Consulate-Chef Keisuke Oyama and staff, to reflect the tradition and artistry of Japanese cuisine.
