Consul-General Wajima Presents Commendation for Contributions to Japanese Supplementary School

2026/6/7
On June 7th, Consul-General Wajima held a Consul-General’s Commendation Ceremony at the official residence, honoring Mr. Akira Kobayashi, Ms. Yasuko Nakayama, Ms. Yoko Haley, and Mr. Shigeki Tsutsui.
Mr. Kobayashi and Ms. Nakayama at the Calgary Hoshuko Japanese School Association, and Ms. Haley and Mr. Tsutsui at Calgary Japanese Community School, have dedicated themselves for many years to Japanese Supplementary School for local children.
These two schools are far more than just classrooms for language and culture; they are invaluable sanctuaries where children raised in Canada can connect with their Japanese identity, fostering the next generation that will bridge our two nations.
The recipients' dedication to preserving and growing these vital institutions has immense value, benefiting both the local Japanese expatriate community and the broader friendship between Japan and Canada. The commendations were awarded to celebrate these remarkable contributions.
The reception was a lively gathering, attended by representatives from both schools.
