Consul-General Wajima Meets with the Honourable Ric McIver, Speaker of the Alberta Legislative Assembly

On June 4th, Consul-General Wajima welcomed the Honourable Ric McIver, Speaker of the Alberta Legislative Assembly, to the official residence.
Speaker McIver visited Japan for inter-parliamentary exchanges, paying courtesy calls on the Speakers of the Hokkaido and Okinawa Prefectural Assemblies in late May. In 2025, Alberta and Hokkaido marked the 45th anniversary of their twinning, and the 125th anniversary of Okinawan immigration to Canada was also celebrated in Lethbridge, Alberta. Inter-regional exchanges between Alberta and the two prefectures have, over many years, continued to strengthen across a wide range of fields, including the economy and culture.
The Consulate-General will continue to play an active role in further strengthening Japan–Alberta cooperation and in supporting inter-regional exchanges.
