JETAA Canada National Conference 2026

On June 26, the Consulate-General of Japan in Calgary welcomed delegates attending the JETAA Canada National Conference 2026 by hosting a reception at the official residence. nineteen delegates representing JETAA chapters traveled from across Canada, the United States, Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaica.
Remarks were delivered by Consul-General Wajima, Valerie Stewart, JETAA International Representative, and Shuaib Syed, JETAA Canada Representative. The toast was proposed by Tyson Nissen, JETAASA Representative. The reception was also attended by representatives of the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR) and other supporters of the JET Programme.
Furthermore,ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement) displays by the Sogetsu Calgary Study Group added a festive touch to the reception.
On June 27 and 28, the delegates participated in morning conference sessions at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), where they engaged in discussions on a variety of topics. During the sessions, JET alumni exchanged ideas on increasing alumni involvement in events, the importance of the JET community in fostering lifelong friendships and professional networks, and ways to build an even stronger alumni community. On June 27, a special workshop was held with Ms. Mami Humphreys of Mami-Eishun Japanese Calligraphy, offering participants the opportunity to experience Japanese culture and the spirit of wa (harmony) through the art of Japanese calligraphy.
