Conferral Ceremony of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays to Ms. Dori Gingera-Beauchemin

On July 31, Consul General Wajima held a ceremony in Winnipeg to confer the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays upon Ms. Dori Gingera-Beauchemin, who was named a recipient in the Spring 2026 Decorations for Foreign Nationals.
Ms. Beauchemin who served Deputy Minister of the Manitoba Department of Agliculture for long years, received the decoration in recognition of her many years of dedicated service to the establishment, growth, and continued success of the Fukushima-Manitoba Youth Exchange Program, which connects Fukushima Prefecture and Manitoba. Her efforts have made a significant contribution to youth exchanges and mutual understanding between Japan and Canada.
The ceremony took place during a welcome reception for high school students from Fukushima Prefecture who were dispatched to Winnipeg as part of the 2026 USA-Canada International Exchange Program hosted by York Benimaru Foundation. In attendance were Mr. Ohtaka, the Trustee of the York Benimaru Foundation, and his wife, as well as representatives of Manitoba Agriculture, the 4-H Club, and HyLife. These organizations have all been longtime supporters of this exchange program.
During the ceremony, Ms. Beauchemin expressed her appreciation to all those involved, stating:
“This award is not mine alone. This belongs to all those both here in Manitoba and in Japan who I have worked beside over the past 40 years ensuring this is one of the best cultural exchanges in the world.”
She conveyed her heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped make the exchange program a lasting success.
Following the conferral ceremony, Ms. Beauchemin hosted a party at her home and was warmly congratulated by her husband Paul and other family members and friends.
