2018 Globalfest Japan Pavilion and Yukata Try-on Event

From August 16th to 25th, for each day of the 2018 GlobalFest OneWorld Festival, the Consulate-General of Japan in Calgary organized a booth as part of the Japan Pavilion, featuring a Yukata and Happi try-on event. Many visitors for the try-on event enjoyed this part of Japanese summer culture, and had fun taking photos on their cameras and phones. We also exhibited the winning photos from the 2017 Japan Photo Contest, while providing information on Japan, including a variety of pamphlets. Furthermore, several on-stage performances were made by local Japanese drumming (Taiko) groups and Yosakoi dancers, also representing the Japan Pavilion. Through these experiences and performances, many visitors were able to deepen their understanding of Japanese culture in their own way.
