With the goal of fostering interest in Japanese culture and to further promote understanding between Japan and Canada, The Consulate-General of Japan in Calgary is pleased to present its 4th consecutive Japan Photo Contest.  This contest is open to all who reside in our jurisdiction which includes AB, MB, SK, NT & NU. 

Submit photos for a chance to win prizes, receive a certificate from the Consul-General, and have your photo featured online and in future events and promotions. Thank you to our generous sponsors Canon Canada Inc.,  The Camera Store, Manfrotto, and Japanab for providing this year's contest with wonderful prizes!

The 2017 Japan Photo Contest has 4 categories. Each person can submit up to a maximum of 4 photographs (only one per category). Photos can be taken either in Canada or Japan, relevant to the theme.The categories are as follows:
 
  1. Nature
  2. Cool Japan
  3. Culture, Food & Festivals
  4. People

In addition to awarding 1st & 2nd prize for each category, Consul-General's Prize and the Grand Prize will also be chosen for a total of 10 photos honoured. Prizes will include items such as professional photo printers, camera bags and more. To reference last year's winning photos, please click here.

Submission Instructions

Follow the instructions below, and be sure to enter by the deadline of October 31st, 2017.

Digital Photo Submission Instructions

  1. Read the 2017 Japan Photo Contest Terms & Conditions (PDF)
  2. Fill out the 2017 Japan Photo Contest Submission Form (PDF fillable form)* and then send the form to: submissions@cl.mofa.go.jp
  3. Submit each photo, one at a time by email, using the links below for each respective category (ensure each is photo between 1MB and 8MB).
*Note: It is recommended to use a desktop/laptop for the submission form as some smartphone users may experience compatibility issues. If you are experiencing difficulties with the form, an alternate method of submitting the form is to print it out, complete it by hand, then scan or take a picture of it and send it to: submissions@cl.mofa.go.jp.
